 In Tharu language

Har = plough

A legendary mith is at the basis of this HARERI celebration.

It is said that in a mythical past, when people began to cultivate the land, they had no idea how to plow.

So, they went to God Mahadev for an answer but he couldn’t give any solution.

It was the Goddess Parbati who, for the first time, suggested the idea.

Since then people started farming and on this occasion, the farmers started celebrating HARERI
