The contextualization of the ethnographic materials from the place of origin often makes  impossible to understand the meaning of their iconography.

In this case the meaning of the iconography of a sculpture has been explained by some photographs taken on the field.

It is a special iconography, a human figure who holds another on the shoulders.

The realism of the gesture found in the sculpture well  represents the reality of  the rite.

Carrying the Oracle on his back, it is like to carry the God on his back.

Physics and metaphysics come together in the real life and in the iconography of this sculpture.

ASIAN ART

15th to 24th of May 2014

Ten days of Asian Art in Milan

Italy

1.jpg

Now in its fifth edition Milan Asian Art, the prestigious event, unique in Italy, offers a journey into Oriental art through the exhibition of fine works and precious artifacts from Asia. For ten days, May 15 to 24, eight galleries specialized in the center of Milan, will offer the opportunity to visit eight thematic exhibitions, cleverly constructed and designed to expand our knowledge of aesthetics and eastern culture over the centuries.

2.png

The exhibition, organized in collaboration with the Museo Poldi Pezzoli, which in turn will propose a path through the most beautiful oriental works belonging to its collections, explore the many areas of artistic production throughout the extended Asian region, covering a vast arc time.

3.jpg

Milan Asian Art , the only Italian event which aims to promote the art of Eastern Europe, is back for the fifth consecutive year thanks to the collaboration of eight galleries lit Milan Dalton Somare , David Sorgato , Giuseppe Piva, Illulian , The Galliavola , Mirco Cattai , Renzo Freschi and Gracis which will host the London gallery of Ben Janssens , one of the leading international specialists in Asian art and Antiquairs Chairman of TEFAF Maastricht .

Milan Asian Art is not just a trade event but an event that hopes to unite, as in London and New York, the totality of the fans because it is an artistic and cultural relevance , and complete that even in 2014 it uses, and is gratified by the partnership with the Poldi Pezzoli Museum , an institution that has always been with the world of collecting a very strong bond .

Designed and made with skill and critical attention , the nine exhibitions offer an articulated vision that comes from antiquity to the contemporary period , but also for cultural matrix composite moving from the Near to the Far East through the Indian sub-continent and south -east Asia .
