Craftsmen assemble the wooden mask of the demon King Ravana-Raavan, used during the ‘Bharigan’, Assamese folk theatre. Assam / India.

Performed by the tribal Rabha community, Bharigan songs are adaptations of the Ramayana.

While Sri Madhava Kandali’s version is popular in Assam, the Bharigan adapts other versions too.
